The movie “Brave 2012 review” is about Merida. She was a princess and lived with her mother and father (Queen Elinor and King Fergus). On her birthday, she was gifted with a bow and an arrow but her mother didn’t like it as she thought that the princess should not have a weapon. Suddenly, a Mordu attacked them. They were saved but her father lost his leg. Time passed and she grew up.
Elinor’s restrictions:
Her mother Queen Elinor teach her all the things that Princesses do and forbid her from doing the other things but Merida didn’t like it. She wanted to be free and didn’t wanted to be a princess like her mother. One day, when she came back after her Archery practice in the forest, her mother told her that she had to marry a first born of her alley clans and they will reach soon.
Merida’s Marriage proposal:
Merida wasn’t happy but was forced. Her mother told her story of a prince who didn’t listen to his father’s advice and their kingdom was destroyed. The day when the clans reached, Merida’s mother prepared her for the event and in the event she came to know that it was their tradition that only the first born was eligible to ask for the Princess’s hand and he had to first win a competition by winning a game decided by the princess herself.
Merida contest herself:
After hearing this, she came up with an idea. After each clan’s leader introduced their first born, Merida decided archery for her game. The event was organized according to that where Merida also introduced herself as the first born of her clan and decided to contest for her own hand. She easily managed to win the contest. This made her mother Queen Elinor furious.
Mother Daughter Argument:
She took her to her room where both of them had a little conversation that directed in the wrong direction and Merida ruined the family’s Tapestry. In a fit of rage, she left the house and went in to the forest. There, she reaches a place where a place was surrounded by big rocks. She saw some wisps leading her way. She and her horse followed that path and reached a witch’s cottage.
Merida met a witch:
When she entered a cottage, she saw a witch who was carving on wood. Merida bought all her carvings and also asked for a spell that could change her mother. The witch gave her an enchanted cake which she brought back home. She used it and fed a bite of it to her mother. Elinor first felt a little sick and changed to a bear but she had her human consciousness.
Going Back to Witch’s cottage:
Merida and Elinor left for the witch’s cottage as Merida didn’t thought that the spell would convert her mother into a bear. She thought that the spell would only change her mind set about her marriage. Merida and Elinor left the house with the help of her three triplet brothers but after she left, they ate the enchanted cake which turned them into bears too.
Witch’s message:

When they reached the witch’s cottage, it was empty but the witch had left a message for Merida that to break the spell, she must mend the bond, torn by pride. Otherwise, Elinor will permanently change into a bear. Merida and Elinor travelled back to their place but on their way; they reach a place about which her mother told her story.
Mordu’s attack:
She realized that the prince must he changed into a Mordu which then attacked them. They managed to escape safely. When they reached back, they found the clans fighting, at that time Merida decided to agree on marrying the first born but she changed her speech according to her mother who told her to say that the first born were allowed to marry according to their own choice breaking the tradition.
King caught them:
All the clans agreed. Merida went to the room to repair the tapestry to change her mother back but his father caught them and tried to kill her mother. Elinor attacked her husband due to her conversion but soon realized her mistake and ran from there. All of them followed her thinking her as Mordu.
King attacked Elinor:
They wanted to kill her but as Merida tried to stop them; her father locked her in the room. She escaped from there with the help of her brothers. She repaired the tapestry and took it with her where the Mordu attacked Merida but Elinor saved her. Mordu was killed by a broken rock and his soul turned into a wisp and thanked her for freeing him.
Happy Ending (Brave 2012 review):
As the second sunrise, Merida quickly covered her mother with the tapestry but she stayed the same. Merida begged and cried to get her back which was the real meaning of the witch’s words. Character Profile (Brave 2012 review):
Merida:
Merida is the main character in the movie which was forced to do things she didn’t wanted to and when she got very furious, she ran to the forest where she found wisps that lead her to the witch’s house. She used the cake that the witch gave her to change her mother and her mother actually changed and turned into a bear. At that time, both of them realized their mistakes and tried to make their wrongs right.

Villain’s Profile (Brave 2012 review):
Queen Elinor and The Witch:
There is no specific villain in the movie but Merida thought her mother as the villain as she always force her to do things that she never wanted to do which made her think that she should change her fate. Queen Elinor also forced Merida to marry someone. On the second thought, the witch can be the villain as she gave her the spell which turned Merida’s mother into a bear and didn’t even tell her the complete thing. This puts everyone in danger specially the Queen which was about to get killed by her own husband.
Did you Notice!
Merida’s Horse tries to stay away from the place surrounded by rocks and didn’t put a single step in it but after their return from the witch’s house both were standing in that place and the horse was calm.
