Story (Encanto):
Introduction (Encanto):
The movie “Encanto” is about a family “Madrigals”. The story starts with a young couple Pedro and Alma. One day, an armed conflict forces attacked their village which forced Alma and Pedro to leave the village with their infant triplets Julieta, Pepa and Bruno, holding a candle in her hand. Many villagers joined them.
Candle Got Powers:
On their way, they were confronted by the forces and Pedro was killed. After Pedro’s death, the candle gained magical powers and built Casita, a house that can do many chores on its own. The candle gave magical powers to each member of the Madrigal’s family when they turned 5 which they used to serve the villagers.
Triplet’s Powers:
Julieta could treat illnesses with her cooked food. Pepa could control weather with her mood. Bruno had the power to visionize the future. Bruno had never seen something good in his visions so he left family many years ago.
Kid’s Powers:
As the time passed, new members were added and were blessed with new powers but only one member (Mirabel) didn’t get any power. Julieta had three daughters, Luisa blessed with power of super strength, Isabela blessed with power of growing flowers and plants and then Mirabel.
Pepa had two sons and one daughter, Dolores blessed with the power of super hearing, Camilo blessed with the power to shape shift and Antonio who was not 5 yet.
Antonio’s Gift celebration:
On the day of Antonio’s getting the powers, everyone was happy as he was blessed with the powers of talking to the animals. During the celebrations, they wittingly ignored Mirabel and had a family photo without her.
Mirabel found Casita Breaking:
Mirabel was very sad and while she was alone, she discovered casita breaking and the candle flickering. She quickly informed everyone but till then casita had already recovered itself temporarily which made everyone disbelief Mirabel.
Mirabel’s Investigation:
She was so astonished and then she decided to explore everything on her own. During her investigation she found out that something is wrong is Luisa and when she asked her, Luisa told her about her strength getting weaker.
Hidden cave:
She was not fully able to pick up everything and that in a separate tower, in Bruno’s room, she could find something relevant. When she got there, she found a cave full of sand and when she investigated further, she found pieces of emerald.
Bruno’s Vision Tablet (Encanto):
Mirabel tried to connect them and connecting them turned those pieces into Bruno’s vision tablet. She used it and saw herself in front of the breaking Casita. She tried to ask everyone about Bruno’s vision but everyone told her that it is forbidden to talk about Bruno.
Dolores Told Everyone:
Agustin, Mirabel’s father found Mirabel with Bruno’s tablet and told her to keep it a secret but Dolores heard them. On a family dinner, when Isabela was getting proposed by Mariano, Dolores secretly told everyone about Mirabel’s investigation. This changed Pepa’s mood and a large storm evacuated everyone from Casita.
Bruno never left:
Mirabel saw mice running with tablet pieces and followed them. She found Bruno there and asked him to help her. He told her that he only left so that Mirabel can live peacefully. Bruno used his powers on Mirabel’s insistence and saw that Mirabel is the key, Future is not confirmed yet and then he saw Isabela and Mirabel hugging.
Mirabel attempt to help:
They thought that the powers could be saved if Mirabel and Isabela hugged. She forcefully, accepted and went to Isabella’s room to say sorry and after a little discussion both were happy and Mirabel helped Isabela to use her powers freely and hugged. After that Casita started to break, everyone lost their powers and the candle went out.
Abuela’s angry:
Abuela blamed Mirabel of everything but Mirabel in a rage, told Abuela that it was all her high expectations that ruined everything and in sadness, she left there. Abuela after searching many hours, found Mirabel at Pedro’s death place and after some discussion, they reunited.
Happy Ending (Encanto):
Mirabel, Abuela and Bruno came back and gathered everyone to start building casita on their own without any powers. The villagers also joined them. When Mirabel put the doorknob, casita got its powers again, restoring the candle. Everyone gained their powers back and was very happy. After that they again had a family photo and this time Mirabel and Bruno were also included.

Character Profile (Encanto):
Bruno:
Bruno is not a main character in the “Encanto” movie but plays a very important role. He had the powers to see future but no one was happy with his visions as he had never seen something good. On Mirabel’s gift blessing day, as Mirabel didn’t got any gift, Abuela asked him to vision the future but after seeing a horrible future, he left casita so that no one blame Mirabel of anything wrong as he was blamed. This was such a great favor for Mirabel.
Did You Notice?
Dolores was gifted with super hearing powers but she never expressed that she heard Abuela and Bruno talking about this horrible future and also she never expressed about Bruno’s presence in Casita. Bruno was always there but no one ever found him.
Life Lessons (Encanto):
- Always try to help your family regardless of your loss.
- Try to resolve your issues with your family before something bad happen.
- Never expect more from your kids as this can also disturb them mentally.
- Everyone is special even if he/she don’t have any special powers.
- Don’t try to harm anyone.
