Story (Madagascar 2: Escape to Africa):

Introduction (Madagascar 2: Escape to Africa):

The movie “Madagascar 2: Escape to Africa” begins with the story that how Alex reached the zoo. One day, the little cub Alakay was having a fighting lesson from his father Zuba who was the alpha lion in the reserve in Kenya.

Alex’s Kidnap:

At that time, his rival Makunga came there and challenged him for the title of Alpha. While both of them were fighting, Alakay was taken away by some hunters and they sealed him in a crate. Zuba tried hard to stop them from taking his son but they shot him with a gun. But unfortunately, his crate fell in the river and he swam all the way and reached New York City.

Alex “The king of New York”:

He grew up there in the Central Park zoo as Alex with his other friends Marty the zebra, Melman the giraffe and Gloria the hippopotamus. On Marty’s birthday, they all escaped the zoo as Marty wanted to enjoy the wild and he left his place on night and the other three followed him to get him back.

New Yorker’s Misunderstanding:

But this was all misunderstood by the protestors and they forced the zoo officials to send them where they belong and the journey continued as we saw in the first Madagascar movie. Now, the four of the Madagascar animals with the penguins and the chimpanzees were flying back to New York in a wrecked makeshift plane fixed by the penguins but during their journey, they were crashed and landed in an animal reserve near a water hole.

Madagascar animals in Kenya:

They were all excited to see the animals like them. Alex also met his family where the rival Makunga asked Zuba that other lions wanted Alex to fulfill the tradition of rite of passage and that Zuba being Alpha lion should fulfill his duty. Alex impressed everyone by saying that he was the king of New York and he will fulfill this task as it is very easy for him. Later, Makunga tricked him by saying that he should accept Teetsi as his competitor and Alex did the same.

Rite of Passage:

When the event started, he decided to fight with Teetsi but he didn’t know that the competitor he was selecting was for a fight. When the competition started, he loses and his father Zuba had to leave his post and Alex was banished from the reserve. On the other side, Marty realized that what he can do, everyone can do and his talent is no longer unique.

Melman about to die:

Melman was appointed as a witch doctor by other giraffes and by a spot, he found out that he had a disease and he will not live anymore. All of them were sad except Gloria who was going for a date with Moto Moto. Suddenly, they came up to know that the watering hole is all dried up. Alex wanted to go out of the reserve to see if anything can be done to set that right.

Alex to the rescue:

He asked Marty and they both went together. After the plane crash, the penguins snatched the jeeps from the visitors and now the visitors made a dam for their survival on the instructions of a tough old lady who beat Alex on the railway station. They caught Alex but Zuba came for a rescue where all the other Madagascar animals came with the fixed plane and they helped them to break the dam.

Happy ending (Madagascar 2: Escape to Africa):

Makunga tried to stand for the Alpha lion’s post but they tricked him by giving him nana’s hand bag and she beat him very much for this. After this Alex returned Alpha Lion’s title to his father but he said that it was for both of them. At the end, Skipper married a doll and they went for a honey moon.

Character Profile (Madagascar 2: Escape to Africa):

Penguins (Skipper, Kowalski, Private, Rico):

Penguins play a very vital role in Madagascar series. As in the first movie “Madagascar”, they were finding their way back to Antarctica as they thought that zoo is not a place for them and that’s how Marty got the idea to escape the zoo and their whole journey was based as Marty escaped from the zoo and tried to enjoy Freedom. In the second movie “Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa Blu-ray”, the penguins made their journey possible by a makeshift plane and they were the one that were flying the plane and after the plane crash, they repaired it.

Villain’s Profile (Madagascar 2: Escape to Africa):

Makunga:

Makunga was a greedy lion, who always wanted everyone to obey him. Even when Alex was a little cub, he tried to get the throne which in this movie is titled as “Alpha Lion” and he had that control over the whole Forest. After Alex’s return to his parents, he planned everything accordingly so that he can he the Alpha Lion. He at first, asked Zuba for the rite of passage tradition, and after he agreed, he pretended that he helped Alex by telling him the rightful candidate or competitor.

Did you Notice!

In the end of the first movie, the Madagascar animals were going to start their new journey on the ship that penguins brought there and one of the penguin even mentioned that the ship was out of fuel but in the second movie, we saw them starting their journey on the wrecked plane fixed by the penguins and even penguins were also with them in the journey.

Life Lessons (Madagascar 2: Escape to Africa):

• Do not covet fame.
• Never lose hope in difficult time.
• Don’t underestimate your little abilities.
• Never lose time in doing right things.
• Everyone is different and everyone is special.
• Try to make good friends that would support you in your difficult time.
