In the movie “Pinocchio”, a cricket named Jiminy told a story that he didn’t believe that wishes could come true until he actually saw a person’s wish coming true. He told that on one of his journey, he stayed at the house of a wood worker named Geppetto who had a cat and a fish as a pet.
Living Puppet:
He had many things in his shop like wooden clocks and toys. Geppetto had also made a wooden puppet in his shop that he loved the most. One day, when he was going to fall asleep, he made a wish to the stars that may his wooden puppet come to life. After he fell asleep, a blue fairy appeared and fulfilled his wish and put life in his puppet but she didn’t change him into a human.
Wish coming True:
She said that if he proves himself courageous, brave, honest and unselfish, she would turn him to a human boy. The cricket introduced himself to the fairy and she assigned him a task to be Pinnochio’s conscience and to help him differ between right and wrong. The puppet moved and and fell on the ground which made a noise and woke Geppetto up.
Puppet going to school:
After he saw his puppet live, he was overjoyed and he named that wooden puppet Pinocchio. The next day, he happily sent him to the school like the other little kids in his neighborhood. Geppetto loved him like his son and wanted him to learn new things at school. But on the puppet’s way to school, he met a fox Honest John and his sidekick Gideon the cat.
Stromboli:
When they saw a puppet moving without his strings, they thought of a plan to earn money by selling him to a puppet show owner named Stromboli. They made a deal with him and took Pinocchio with them saying that they will make him a star and he would be famous through his acting.
Puppet in a bird cage:
Stromboli gave them money in exchange of Pinocchio. He acted in the show once through which Stromboli earned a lot of money. After the show, the puppet asked him to return in the morning and now he would go home but Stromboli didn’t allow him to go and locked him up in a bird cage.
Punishment for lying:
He tried hard to escape but was unable to do so. Suddenly, Jiminy appeared there and tried to help him but the same happened with him and he sat there hopelessly. The blue fairy appeared and asked him what happened? but instead of telling her the truth, he lied and his nose grew bigger and bigger. She freed him and said that next time; she won’t be able to help him again.

Pleasure Island:
Meanwhile, a man pays a lot of money to Honest John the fox and his sidekick Gideon the cat to bring children that skip the school and misbehave. They both agreed and when Pinocchio was on his way back home, they caught him. They convinced him to go to the pleasure island for a vacation with a man and he agrees. Jiminy was also with him.
Lamp Wick:
On his way, he made friend with a boy named Lamp wick. When they reached the pleasure island, they enjoyed a lot together and did all the wrong things without any restrictions. Jiminy tried to stop him but despite his warnings, he kept on smoking and drinking.
Donkeys as Laborers:
Jiminy in anger left that place and saw the children turning to donkeys and the man locking them in cages to send them as laborers. He quickly retuned but till then Lamp wick was already turned into donkey and Pinocchio was started turning into donkey. With the help of Jiminy, he escaped and returned home but when he reached there, he saw the house empty.
Monstro the giant whale:
Suddenly, they got a letter from the fairy that Geppetto had left to find him in the ocean and a giant whale named Monstro had swallowed him. He quickly ran and jump into the Mediterranean Sea to save Geppetto. Monstro swallowed him too where he finally met his father. Together they used a trick and escaped from Monstro’s mouth on a raft.
