Story (Coco):

Introduction (Coco):
The movie Coco is mainly about the boy named Miguel. He loved music like his great great grandfather but his family hated it. They thought that the music is one that separates them apart. As his great great grandfather leave his family for career. At that time, their great great grandmother, Imelda, in rage baned the music for her family and started making shoes.
Miguel loves Music:
This ritual continued and after generation it remains same for both music and work. Their families stay apart from music and always join the family shoe business. But unfortunately, Miguel love music. He used to practice music in loneliness hiding from his family. He taught himself how to play guitar by watching the videos of his idol, Ernesto De La Cruz.
Day of the Dead:
One day, on the Day of the Dead, he accidently hit the family ofrenda and discovered that in picture of Imelda there is a hidden section in which there is a man and his face is torn. He, from the clothes of that man, guessed him as Ernesto his idol.

Secret Exposed:
He excitedly ran to his family and revealed his own secret. His grandmother after knowing his secret broke his guitar so that he stays with them. But he left the house. While roaming, he finds out that there is a singing opportunity for him if he joins a competition being held there. But the requirement of the competition was to have a musical instrument with you.
Land of the Dead:
Miguel stole Ernesto’s guitar which cursed him to reach the Land of the Dead. He was discovered by his late relatives there and they helped him return back. But Miguel in order to join the competition again stole that guitar, returing to the Land of the Dead. At that time, Imelda put a condition that if he promises to leave the music she will help him again. But Miguel denied.
Miguel Met Hector:
He started searching his idol, Ernesto so that he could help him go back. At that time, he accidently bumped into Hector. Hector promised him to help him find Ernesto if he promise to put his picture in a family Ofrenda. While finding Ernesto, his family in the land of the dead were finding him as well to get him back to his house as if he will stay so long there, he will change to one of them.
Lost People:
But whenever Miguel saw his family member, he quickly hid and run from there as the condition was not acceptable for him. Hector also took him to a place where forgoten people lived. The people who are forgotten by their family and don’t have a picture in an ofrenda. There, Miguel saw how people disappear if their family didn’t remember them. Hector told him that he will be one of them too if his daughter forgot him. Miguel then promised Hector that he will help him.
Ernesto’s Truth:
When Miguel met Ernesto De la Cruz, it was revealed to him that Ernesto is not his great great grandfather. He also found out that Ernesto and Hector both were once companions but Hector didn’t want to lose his family due to his career so he left music. But Ernesto killed him and stole all his songs and took his place as he wanted to become famous.
Family Reconcile:
Hector never reached back so his family always blamed him that he ignored his family for music. But that was not true. Ernesto after knowing that Miguel knew the truth captured him in a pit. He tried to kill Miguel but Hector saved him. Together they helped Hector to reconcile with his family. Hector helped him to get home safely with his blessings.

Happy Ending (Coco):
After getting home, he reminded Coco about Hector, her father which she was about to forgot but with Miguel she remembered him again. Coco died that year and in the next year, on the day of the dead, they showed the picture of Hector and Coco as they remembered their Family.

Character Profile (Coco):
Coco:
Coco, Miguel’s great grandmother who had lost her father when she was a little girl. But she still misses him and waits that one day her father will come even when she become too old. Her mother Imelda forced her to forget about her father and live happily without him but Coco always wanted them both.

Day of the Dead:
In the movie, an event is presented that is named Day of the Dead. According to the people, on that day their late family members come back to visit them. This is the day when they frame the pictures of their late family members in an Ofrenda so that they can come easily as it is shown that if you don’t have a picture in an Ofrenda, you can’t go back. They make things that their late ones love.

Ernesto De La Cruz:
Ernesto, a famous singer and inspiration of many people, he wanted to become famous in the starting of his career. He joined hands with his friend, Hector. And with the help of hector, he could easily achieve his goal. But when hector refused to help him anymore as he missed his family, Ernesto killed him and stole his belongings. This made him famous but even after his death, the truth exposed and he was unable to do anything.
Did You Notice?
In the whole movie, hector was barefoot as his family didn’t want him but at the end, when the misunderstanding was cleared, he was wearing shoes.
Life Lessons (Coco):
- Family should be everyone’s first preference.
- Bad deeds are a source of defamation for you even if you are dead.
- A child always loves his parents no matter what.
